Yep, trash bags are degrading in quality folks, you are not imagining it! Many large brands are going to lower plastic alternatives labeled as "tear resistant". That term seems to translate to thinner bags that have been pre-weakened and at times even have very small holes already present due to the stretching/abbration process they use on the plastic during production. I care about the environment, however I doubt the reduction in plastic actually helps much (if you have to double bag = defeats the purpose). I suspect the switch is motivated by the bottom line however. I am dealing with dirty diapers, food messes and other atrocities. I need bags that do not tear!

What is also frustrating is that I had an 'Subscribe and Save' set up for the previous version of this product (Hefty Odor Block Trash Bags, Lavender scent, 90 count, here: https://www..com/gp/product/B00CMKCKO0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1). Unfortunately, automatically switched my order over to this 80 count tear resistant version, ARG! These two products are NOT THE SAME! Needless to say, I have canceled my subscription, and switched to an off brand that makes plastic bags the old-fashioned way.

Sadly enough, I have canceled my Subscribe and Save subscription for the Hefty Ultra Strong Bags. I noticed that they were not the same product that I have been ordering for years now. The plastic is so thin that when I went to put them in my trash can my finger went right through them. I had to double bag to make sure if it happens again there won't be any leakage into the trash can. Other than them tearing easily we have not had any leaking problems whatsoever. Hefty was always my " go to" bag of choice. I hope there is a good replacement out there!

I prefer a trash bag without heavy perfumes or fragrances, so I jumped at the opportunity to subscribe to these at a seemingly good price. Upon opening the box it was apparent that these are not fragrance-free as advertised. They have a sickly sweet fake vanilla smell. The box said "scent free" but they were definitely perfumed! Unsubscribed immediately.

Edge does NOT hold on to container, constantly falling in. Bought these on an sale and thought the scent sounded nice, but not worth the pain of constantly reattaching bag. You ever have a pair of socks that wouldn't stay up? This is the equivalent in garbage bags. Wouldn't buy this brand again

I've been using Hefty bags for 5 years and have NEVER had a leak in any of them. Lately I couldn't find the old version of the Ultra Strong bags, so I took a chance on this "new, improved" one with the new weave pattern. It's been a nightmare so far.

The first issue is that size is a problem. It's a really tight fit around my kitchen trash can (use a standard Sterilite 13 gallon), so tight that I think the strength of the bag gets compromised near the mouth. It's also shorter in depth as other reviewers have mentioned.

Second, the improved stretch/weave is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Just touch the material and you know how much the thickness and quality has gone down. These are so much easier to puncture with my finger compared to the older ones (I did a side-by-side test).

With the old hefty bags I threw everything I wanted in there: pizza boxes, clamshell containers and it took them like a champ.
With these new ones I have had at least 3 punctures/leaks in the 3 weeks I have been using the product, and I only fill them to about 60-70% of the previous ones because they are too small both in depth and width for my dustbin.

I'm willing to pay upwards of 20 cents a bag for premium products, but in return I expect that they don't function like the 5 cent bags you get at the dollar store. Stay far away and don't look back.

Hefty bags fit both of my 13 gallon kitchen trash cans and have proven reliable.

I tend to purchase Hefty or Glad, both performing in a similar manner in our home on two different brands of kitchen trash cans. Both Hefty and Glad are reliable for not breaking or puncturing, nothing standing out that created any commercial like drama of trash cascading down a flight of stairs or such, no events that made either brand seem like a "never buying it again" brand.

I prefer Hefty for one main reason, it usually eliminates the incredibly annoying problem of the bag sagging into the trash can due to the inability to stay snug around the rim. Glad has a much higher track record of inspiring me to say a few choice words, the ones my kids shouldn't hear, when I discover the bag has headed south again because I didn't fuss with it enough.

I tend to find Hefty at a better price here on , Subscribe and Save stacked with coupons tends to make Hefty a clear winner in the trash heap war in our house.

What can you say about a trash bag? They hold trash, have a tie-off and rarely break. I use them for everything, including lining my under sink trash container. Among my uses, packing when moving, covering jackets for summer, covering plants for frost, covering cooking pans tat are infrequently used (in basement, on a rack), spray paint smaller objects (set the object inside the bag, spread away from the object and spray with paint. Allow to dry, flip the object over, and spray other side). I used for spraying ceramic pots to match my decor
