I compared the Nespresso Vertuo Plus with the Nespresso Inissia Espresso Machine by De'Longhi, Silver (black color) and the Kuerig 2.0 which I also own.

NESPRESSO VERTUO PLUS:

SETUP TIME: 10 minutes to get it out of the box and put together on the counter and clean the water tank in the sink. Add 5 minutes 33 seconds for initial self cleaning of the unit where it runs hot water through the machine for a total time of 15 minutes 33 seconds before you can make coffee or espresso for the first time.

The Vertuo plus has an adjustable tray to fit more sizes from a tiny espresso cup to a standard Starbucks travel mug. The Starbucks travel mug does NOT fit in the Keurig 2.0 even if you remove the bottom tray. The original Nespresso machine can only fit a coffee cup or small espresso cup.
The Vertuoplus comes with 12 pods (see picture) for you to sample!
The original Nespresso is the smallest and fits in smaller spaces and is the most portable.

EASE OF USE: The VertuoPlus is very easy to use. Fill it with water, put in a Vertuo cup, press the button and it makes coffee or espresso. The used pods are ejected into the back of the machine into a large removable holding tank. The VertuoPlus uses two included pod sizes to make coffee and espresso from 8 oz. Coffee and 1.35 oz. Espresso sizes. The Vertuoplus, the Keurig, and the original Nespresso are all equally easy to use. Tie!
FYI: The VertuoPlus uses a different pod size than the original Nespresso and you can't use the same pod in both machine!!!!

BREW TIMES:

Nespresso Vertuo Plus:
Warm up time if cold: 25 seconds.
Coffee brew time (without warm up time): 1 minute 49 seconds.
Espresso brew time (without warm up time): 1 minute 3 seconds.

Original Nespresso:
Warmup time 29 seconds.
Coffee brew time (without warm up time): 1 minute.
Espresso brew time (without warm up time): 25 seconds.

Keurig 2.0:
Warm up time: 1 minute 21 seconds.
Coffee brew time (without warm up time): 1 minute 28 seconds.

Original Nespresso is the fastest of the three coffee makers!

TASTE TEST: All three have excellent taste without any real differences. The flavor depends on which cup or pod you buy. The VertuoPlus wasn't as hot as the original Nespresso or the Keurig 2.0 and I think it should be hotter!

CLEANUP: All about the same. You occasionally run the self cleaning cycle and have to descale the machine. Descaling for this machine takes 25 minutes and you need to use Nespresso Descaling Solution, Fits all Models, 2 Packets.

COST PER CUP:
VERTUOPLUS COFFEE PODS $1 TO $1.25.
VERTUOPLUS ESPRESSO PODS $0.85
VERTUOPLUS ALTO PODS (large size) $1.20

ORIGINAL NESPRESSO: $0.70- 0.75.

FINAL IMPRESSION:
The VertuoPlus coffee and espresso maker is a great option for making larger cups of coffee and for small espresso cups with a really large variety of flavors / pods to choose from. I really like the VertuoPlus but the brew time is slower than the original Nespresso and the cost per cup is higher. The temperature of the coffee and espresso is not quite hot enough from the VertuoPlus compared to the original Nespresso. Unless you really want Alto cup sizes (like a Starbucks travel mug) I prefer the original Nespresso. Let me know if that was helpful 👍!

Keurig introduced me to the idea of a fresh cup of coffee on demand, but I never really -liked- the taste of their coffee (it was never strong enough) and after a few model upgrades that never really improved the taste of their coffee varieties, I went back to a drip system. I always missed having a fresh cup with the touch of a button, though, and so finally revisited the whole concept. This time I found Nespresso, started with their Evoluo system (with milk frother) and discovered that I actually like their coffee. And lattes! I'm now addicted to lattes. My Evoluo stopped working after a time, and I almost decided to go back to the reliable drip coffee maker, but then I spied a great deal on this one, so I took the plunge.

This unit is perfect. They've made some changes to the overall design, some upgrades to the mechanics, and I think they've nailed it. It's much quieter than the Evoluo, and gives you the option to position the water tank on either side or straight back. The coffee pod holder now moves smoothly up or down with just a nudge. The coffee/espresso seems to be a touch hotter, but that could be just my perception. I haven't had any issue with leaking so far. I know you're locked into the Nespresso system for coffee pods, but they ship quickly, have quite a range of roasts and strengths and I don't think their prices are out of line for the quality of coffee you get. All in all, I highly recommend this!

our 1st Nespresso- didn't know what to expect. for this model, the setup was simple. you must have the power cord in and the maker ON in order to pop the lid and place the pod in. It's great too, because after making a cup, the automatic dispenser disposes it in the back "trash" compartment. I read other reviews about the hotness of the coffee- for me on a single cup, I thought it was good. I didn't have to reheat the cup afterwards. I think if you have maybe 3-4 people over and each have a cup to sit and mingle you would want reheat all the cups in the microwave, but otherwise the temperature was good. It does have a post Drip after the cup is done, but again, unless you're standing right there to grab that cup once its done, you're not going to notice it. It does suck down some water, the tank can make about 2-3 cups. if you are a bottled water person, expect to use a gallon quickly. it is programmed to recognize what size pod is in. I didn't place a pod in and depressed the start button, it continued to run dispensing water in the cup I had - I had to quickly change out cups to prevent spilling. so - good for cleaning perhaps?? just have a pod installed lol
the pod pricing I thought was expensive at first - however, if you're a 1-2 person a day, the pods will last at least 1 to 1.5 months depending on the quantity you buy, so pricing is in a good range per cup. I think it def battles with the Keurig and beats it if you want more than just a cup of coffee. We'll use this for awhile and possibly upgrade to a bigger / better version to handle more brewing.

Got the Essenza Mini first and it was glitchy, exchanged for this one and I have to say I'm not disappointed. The Original coffee's and espressos are yummy, but the Vertuo coffees are equally delicious. We can use vertuo coffee pods, espresso pods and double espresso pods. LOVE IT! This pot if very user friendly. We highly recommend the Breville over the Delonghi. Very user friendly, coffee is delicious. You do have to order pods from Nespresso and they run seventy cents to $1.10 per pod. Still cheaper than the coffee shop.
