This ClosetMaid shoe station is sturdy. I could barely lift the box that the pieces came in. After my husband and I finished assembling it, I was able to pile my cardmaking supplies in the cubbies and on top of it with no fear of imminent collapse (see customer image). However, this Shoe Organizer took roughly 8 hours to assemble, allowing time for the glue to dry and there were NO WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, only pictures.

One of the holes where we were supposed to attached panel D to Panel B was only partially drilled, so in addition to the two screw drivers, glue, and hammer shown in the instructions' picture, you might also need a drill to assemble this Organizer.

I needed a shoe organizer that was 36" wide to go under my entry table and this was one of only a few i found that appeared decent. It arrived in the original box, no box surrounding it. And it had some dings on the outside and sure enough, was damaged. But i am going to live with it bc after i opened the box, it would have been impossible to send back. Plus like i said, only a few to select from, well that will satisfy my OCD ;-) and i am going to have to overlook the visible dings on the front...

But, it holds a ton of shoes and the size is perfect. I can fit 3-4 pair of flip flops easily in one cubbie. Perfect for my needs to house my shoes and my toddlers. I was able to put his crocs in the back with his tennis shors easily in front. It took me and my 4 yro an hour to put together. You WILL need wood glue. Giving it 3 stars bc for the quality, its not worth more than $20-$25 and i paid $42. Also, it is more dark brown than black/expresso. Matches photo
*** i tried adding several photos of the bangs, splits, and damage but only a couple were posted, the not as bad ones...

Received and assembled it yesterday! Instructions were easy, took about 30 minutes to put together. They want you to use glue when putting the pegs into the planks, but I didnt have any and after EVERYTHING was screwed together the final product was very sturdy. If you follow the directions carefully and make sure you have all the finished edges facing the correct way then this can be something that looks really nice and lasts a long time! I turned it vertically to put my heels in. 4 cubes across= 36 in.

Received the item and when I put it together they have you use wood pegs with wood glue, which I did. As I went to put on the external wall, I realized the center piece of the item was significantly wider than the other panels. I bought 5 of these a couple years ago and put each together myself. This particular item was cut wrong. When I tried to pull it apart so that I could ship it back and ask for a refund, one of the wood pegs snapped due to the glue having set in. There is no way for me to return item now.

After doing some research, this particular Closet Maid item was discontinued. My guess is that this seller is selling the items that were returned to the manufacturer for one reason or another, like the one I had. Do not buy!!!

Absolutely love this. We moved into a house and I needed our closet to be cleaned up! I was searching to find something that would fit in the area, and this was the perfect size! I put it together in a half hour (while watching tv, so probably less time). Its heavier than I expected, which is great. Fits all my shoes in each cubby. Beware though, it wouldn't fit my husbands work boots, but it fit my size 9 hiking boots.
Definitely will buy again for another part of the house! I didn't receive any part with any broken pieces, which was great!

I hate this cubby. I wanted something that was inexpensive but looked decent to set next to my front door. There are 3 large silver screws that go in on either side of the cabinet, so whichever side you face up? You’ll see them. The front and back is grey/khaki, which doesn’t match the espresso color, and when I screwed the ‘feet’ onto the bottom of the thing they BUSTED through the laminate. I barely tighten them! So... now we just have this thing that looks like total crap.
I had to put it in the coat closet, which is not at all what I wanted it for, but problem solved without the hassle of returning it.
I wish I had been more cautious with my purchase.

I have been on an organizing rampage since last year... this year I updated my kitchen, my son's room and our bedroom closet... when I say 'UPDATE' I mean I've revamped the way I store things and the way I've organized it. My closet was the worst part of our home. We went from having individual closets to sharing 1. I just threw everything in there and never took the time to make it work. Recently I purchased a different storage items and this was one. It sits on the floor on my husband's side and he uses it for his shoes. There is space on top for a printer and his shaving caddy. We love how it looks. Once I'm done with the closet I will add pix.

I purchased 3 of these and its thick material, Yes I added caulk in the seams to make it stronger. but its very sturdy if you put it together correctly. I purchased these with my own money. Not sure if other reviewers received a different product but its quite heavy and cute. It's a great product for a shoe display thats not made of wood. If you don't follow direction this may be flimsy. Adding glue is optional to the wood peg pieces but it does make the hold stronger. Only push the wood pegs in half way to the middle, because its balanced between the two boards. Don't force it in the holes, just tap it gently with a hammer. It will only break if you are forceful.
